As characters and the country visibly age — and the Yangtze River piles up trash — so does the medium, as formats and aspect ratios from different eras contrast each other; the current of time is relentless and ubiquitous.

His visit echoes his time spent at the same university forty years previous and provides the opportunity to reforge old relationships as well as create new ones. Meanwhile, Jeon-im goes out to sketch the patterns of a stream.
